Welsh Language

  • ·      Who many people speak this language in the world today?
 Around 582,000 people can speak Welsh in the UK. According to Morris (2012) that in the mid of 1800s the rat of people who can speak welsh are more than 80%.

  • ·      Where are the main areas in the UK where this language is spoken?
Wales is the main aria of welsh language, also some villages that are located between England and Wales.


  • ·      What is the history of this language? , When it was spoken and by who?  And what is the story behind its arrival in the UK? 

Welsh language is considered a Celtic language and which was spoken by Britons in the 6th century. BBC (2013) suggested “The Welsh today are descended from many people. Celtic tribes from Europe came to settle the whole of the British isles around 500-100 BC, alongside the original Iron Age population.”
