• Who designed the building?

It was designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership and built by Taylor Woodrow, with environmental and MEP design by BDSP Partnership.

• When was it opened and by whom?

It was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on St. David's

Day, 1 March 2006.

• What materials were used?

It uses traditional Welsh materials such as slate and Welsh Oak in its construction and the wood is made from Canadian sourced Western Red Cedar.

• What is particulary special about the building?

The Senedd is designed to be environmentally friendly: it uses an Earth Heat Exchange system for heating; rainwater is collected from the roof and used for flushing toilets and cleaning windows, and the roof features a wind cowl which funnels natural light and air into the debating chamber below.

Houses of Parliament

          United Kingdom has the most famous parliament in the world. Its also known as the “Mother of all Parliaments”. “Parliament” is an old French word, which means a talk.

       United Kingdom has three separate parts of parliament, the House of Commons (lower house), the House of Lord (the upper house) and the Monarch. Most of the parliament’s dictions are concentrated in the lower house. The commons house is made up of more than 630 members. Further more, these members are selected by the people of UK to represent them in the parliament. The House of Lord has the ability to refuse any decision and bills, except tax bills. In addition, the upper house can give orders to the lower house to reconsider the decision again. Queen Elizabeth II is the Monarch. She is the head of all powers in the United Kingdom. Bills and decision must receive the Queen before becoming Act of the British parliament. 

 

   There are many differences and similarities between the system of education in Qatar and UK. People were wondering is it because their cultures and religion.

 

    United kingdom has a high level of education in universities. Students from Qatar prefer to complete their university studies in Britain. Although, they find out that it is hard because of the different culture. In Qatar boys study in a separate schools from girls due to their Islamic religion. Also, religion is a very important factor in Arabic gulf educations. The similarities between the both countries are the teaching way and also the subjects in schools. In Qatar there are many teachers how came from the United Kingdom to teach students a high level of English language in case if they were interested in studding in the UK or USA.

 

    In conclusion, education system in Qatar is nearly the same Education in UK. As well cultures and religion are strong factors which control the way or the system of their education.  

Great Britain

United kingdom

Great Britain located on the north western said of Europe. The united kingdom consist of four nations (England , Scotland , Wales and northern Ireland). Each of these nations has its own history and traditions. Climate rarely differs and it  usually rains for most of the year.

England

It is the capital of the United Kingdom. It contains more than 80% of UK population.  London it the capital city of England. The most spoken language is English. Cary and fish and chips are the traditional food. Also, Queen Elizabeth lives in Buckingham in London.

                             Scotland

Is the 2^nd biggest nation in the United Kingdom. Scottish people are well known in their traditional clothes and their beautiful bagpipe music. Scotland capital city is Edinburgh.  I has gorgeous big gardens. And people can see squirrels every where.

Wales

It is well known in in their gig coalmines. As well the capital city is Cardiff, which had and steel have the main coal industry in UK. Wales has its own language, that was almost going to be forgotten because of the English power which was the dominant power at the 

time. 

Northern Ireland

Considered the most industrial rang in  British. Belfast is the capital city. Irish people are really good players at snooker and golf. As well Northern Ireland

 has one of the important museums in UK, which is titanic museum in the capital city.
